This is an exercise in light and dark. When I shot this lamp, it was in a hallway which during the day is saturated with light, creating an amazing delicate shape. However when shot at night with an aperture priority setting and a flash (some with some without.). It now presents as a industrial even science fiction image. When edited in a basic editing program I added a med white blur to create a bit of glow. Now the white contrasts greatly to the dark and the shape is enhanced.

See if you can locate examples of this on our Photo Shoot page.

Accenting medium tones of hair color with very light sections (even white) will give you a similar effect of extreme contrast to draw out other colors in the design. This is best done with extensions as lifting your natural hair color that light, often results in damage and breakage.

Shot at the Villa in Malibu. The use of light, medium, and dark tones create a three dimensional effect. When shot from an

awkward perspective the feeling is enhanced.

A similar use of multi-tonal color in hair creates depth and movement. Caution must be used to not over saturate the dark or light, and the use of background color is of the greatest importance as it ties in the lightest and darkest levels and reduces the contrast of grow out. There are examples of this on the photo shoot page, see if you can find one then post it to me on facebook.

What do you see when you look at this picture.

Do you see the saturation of color in the bark?Or perhaps you see the contrast between the flowers and the leaves. Each drawing attention to the color value of the other by it's contrasting tone.

If you pay very close attention to the sun lit branches which are very thin, you will see that they highlight the tree, adding interest and detail; Bringing in contrasting depth when compared to the darker bark.

Is this just a tree by a building? Or a work of art?

It is a work of art, and just like color in hair it can have a wide and varied pallet. A portion of it's beauty comes from the fact that it is excellent condition. It is strong and healthy.

And hair that is strong and healthy is at it's best as well.

What do you see....Art...or just a tree..... Beautiful hair or just some color?

Make no mistake this tree gets special attention to look it's best. In that way when thousands of people come to the Disney concert hall to tour its amazing modern design, they will find this tree.

This tree gets special attention and it shows. Do you? Does your hair color?

I am sure that if you do, it shows as well.

This wonderful shot was taken in Oregeon by Robin Martin, she used my camera as hers was full.

In West Ogden just off 1900 there was this stack, recently it had to come down. Ogden is in transition and with that

comes the loss of structures never to be replaced.
